All Saints' Church Anniversary Celebrations
Nash Villagers celebrated the 150th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of the church with three days of Victorian events at the beginning of November. Prior to the building of the church in Nash, villagers would attend church in Whaddon and burial processions would walk across the fields to Whaddon graveyard. The village was briefly linked with Thornton parish before having its own church.
Visitors came from surrounding towns and villages to view the interior of All Saints’ Church, which was decorated with floral arrangements, historic photographs and displays detailing important aspects of village life.
A number of parishioners dressed in Victorian costume as part of the celebration weekend.
A concert was held on the Saturday evening consisting entirely of music and readings from the Victorian era.
The Church service on the Sunday morning was a sung Matins and a group of singers was gathered together to form a choir to lead the singing, which was accompanied by Pam King on a harmonium, lent by Milton Keynes Museum.
The Village Hall, also celebrating its 150 year origins as the village school, had a band of servers providing refreshments throughout the weekend.
Many thanks to all who helped to make this a memorable weekend and to all who attended.
